Tour Itinerary: Morocco Imperial Cities Tour from Marrakech to Sahara
Day 1: Airport Marrakech
At your arrival welcome and assistance at the airport and transfer to your Hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel
Day 2: Marrakech - Casablanca
After breakfast we will make our way to the economic Capital of Morocco, Casablanca. This is the biggest city in our Morocco Imperial Cities Tour, as well as one of the oldest. You will be strolling in streets, some of which are 80 years old! Pay a visit to the Palace of Mohammed Vand follow that by the United Nations Square and the league of Arab states Park famous for its unique breeds of palm trees. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 3: Casablanca - Rabat - Meknes - Fez
Following breakfast, we will leave Casablanca behind and head to the Moroccan Capital, Rabat, where the king resides. There you will be given time to roam and take in the beauty of this coastal city and enjoy a tasty Moroccan lunch, after which we depart to Meknes. An interesting piece of trivia is that the 16th century ruler “Moulay Ismail” (who took this city to be his capital during his time) modeled himself after the French king Louis the XIV. To mimic his idol he built his amazing palace decorated with the most intricate colorful stucco work, huge beautifully detailed bronze doors and stunning mosaics. Next on the list is the Islamic city of Meknes followed by a visit to Volubilis the western most outpost of the ancient Roman Empire. Lastly we will head to fez .Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 4: Fez Guided City Tour
Day 4 of the Imperial Cities Morocco Tour is all about enjoying Fez. The ancient medina is surrounded by towering walls, along with its ancient aesthetic and the fact that the only method of transportation in the city is by mule gives the city a feeling of being suspended time despite being quite modernized. It’s the home of the first university if Africa dating back to the 9th century, all 9000 streets are bustling with life from its noisy hawkers selling everything from colorful vegetables, to delicious Middle Eastern pastries flavored with cinnamon and honey and the masterful artisans that beat sheets of metal to masterpieces.
Day 5: Fez - Midelt - Eroud - Merzouga Dunes
Following breakfast we will leave Fez setting our eyes towards the next destination of our Morocco Imperial Cities and Desert Tour, Merzouga (The Dunes Erg Chebbi ). We will be crossing the breathtaking Ziz valley and Errachida before stopping in Midelt for Lunch. We arrive at our hotel at 4 pm, time to enjoy the pool for a bit before going on a 2 hour long camel trek in Erg Chebbi’s dunes during sunset. We will ride our Camels to the nomadic camp in the middle of the desert were we get to enjoy a night of music and good food around the campfire before retiring into our private tents.
Day 6: Merzouga Dunes - Toudra Gorges - Tinghir - Dades Gorges.
We will wake you up before sunrise, as not to miss the magnificent Sahara sunrise before riding back to the hotel for a quick shower and breakfast. Afterwards we will cross Todra Gorge to reach Dades gorge. The gorge has been carved by the Dades River that ran across the red stones of the High Atlas Mountain and is a favored spot by rock climbing enthusiasts. You will be given time to hike along the gorge at your leisure before heading to a 4 star hotel for dinner and a good night’s rest.
Day 7: Dades Gorges - Valley of Roses - Skoura Palm - Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we will drive towards Ouarzazate, along the road we will be crossing the unbelievably beautiful valley of roses where the rose festival is held each year. The valley is a true highlight of Imperial Cities Morocco Tour. After having lunch we continue driving to “Africa’s Hollywood” Studios in Ouarzazate. The city served as the location for many famous movies like kingdom of heaven and Gladiator. We will visit Taourirt Kasbah (one of the oldest and most beautiful in all of Morocco) before retiring to a hotel for dinner and overnight sleep.
Day 8: Ouarzazate - Marrakech
After breakfast we will travel to the UNESCO world heritage site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, but not before paying a visit to the famous cinema studios. Ait Benhaddou has been another favored site for Hollywood directors and the site where Alexander and Son of God has been filmed. We will have lunch by the Kasbah and then head into the High Atlas Mountains where we will have a warm cup of mint tea with the local Berber before reaching Marrakech at 5 pm. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
Day 9: Marrakech airport
This Day marks the end of our tour of the Imperial Cities from Marrakech, we will transport you to the airport according to your flight time and wish you farewell, hoping that we gave you the greatest time of your life.
